18.04.2019 An anonymous survey among students of Almaty was conducted
The results of an anonymous survey on the perception of the level of corruption among students of Almaty universities were announced.
In order to determine the level of corruption Project office «Sanaly urpaq» conducted sociological research by anonymous survey among students of Universities in Almaty, to identify the index of perception of corruption. The large-scale survey was conducted for the first time both in the Republic of Kazakhstan and among the CIS countries. The survey covered more than 10,000 students from 33 Universities located in Almaty.
The survey was organized to establish the current level of corruption among the professors and teaching staff of Almaty Universities. According to the results of the survey, the overall index of perception of corruption in 33 Universities was 4.60 points out of 5 possible, where 1 - negative value (unsatisfactory, very bad) - 5 - maximum positive score - excellent. It is also worth noting that 71.6% of the surveyed students have never faced unfair practices (bribes, gifts, personal connections), moreover 66.5% of the surveyed students indicate that academic honesty is the norm and the rule for their University.
At the same time, the study found that in a number of educational institutions the index of perception of corruption is much lower than the average value and ranges from 40 to 52 percent. This fact indicates that in a number of Universities the work on combating corruption is not carried out at the proper level. Today, 17 April, according to the results of the survey under the chairmanship of Deputy akim of Almaty city Krykpaeva A. O., rectors of the city, the project office «Almaty Adaldok Alany» in «Sanaly urpaq», held a meeting with the discussion of the results of the survey and developing specific proposals and measures to prevent corruption in the Universities of Almaty.
The results of the social research were sent to all heads of Universities to further discuss the results with the teaching staff and take further preventive measures.
