Workshop: "Developing Digital Safety and Cyber Hygiene in Senior Group Children through Environmental Awareness"


On October 10, 2024, Kamal Zhansaya, a 2nd-year master`s student in the specialty 7M01201 - Preschool Education and upbringing, conducted a workshop on the topic "Developing Digital Safety and Cyber Hygiene in Senior Group Children through Environmental Awareness" among 2nd-year students as part of her pedagogical practice (supervisor: PhD, Acting Associate Professor Assem Bulshekbayeva).

 

The main goal of the workshop was to discuss potential threats in the digital environment and to explore methods and techniques aimed at developing digital safety and cyber hygiene in children. The students examined the impact of digital devices on children`s psychological and physiological development, and analyzed the role of educators and parents in creating a safe digital environment. In addition, specific methods for mitigating risks when working with digital technologies were discussed.

 

During the event, the students were introduced to the key principles of ensuring children`s digital safety. The importance of proper use of digital devices, adherence to safety rules, and monitoring children`s behavior in the digital environment was emphasized. The students also exchanged ideas on ways to instill cyber hygiene skills in children and analyzed situations related to cybersecurity.

 

As a result of the workshop, the students identified key aspects of protecting children in the digital environment and developed specific recommendations for working in this area. The students created practical steps for building the foundations of cyber hygiene, which can be applied in working with children, and prepared recommendations for use during their pedagogical practice.
