Round table "Formation of functional mathematical literacy of a junior student"

On December 1, 2023, the Department of Primary Education of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology held an International Round table "Formation of functional mathematical literacy of a junior schoolboy" in online and offline format. This event was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Professor Azatgyl Kadyrbayeva, who has worked at the University since 1974.

The following important issues were discussed at the round table: the main ideas of modern mathematical education; modern educational technologies in the formation of functional literacy of younger schoolchildren; distance learning for primary school students: opportunities and prospects; international studies of functional mathematical literacy.

The event brought together leading experts in the field of primary education, mathematics and pedagogy. Teachers, students, undergraduates, doctoral students and primary school teachers participated.

The opening of the Round Table began with a welcoming speech by the director of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology Galiya Abayeva, who read out a congratulatory address from the rector Bolat Tlep. The head of the Department of Primary Education, Professor Aziya Zhumabayeva, opened the event.

Formation of research skills among primary school students in the process of teaching mathematics - Gafurova Mahfuza, senior lecturer of the Department of Methods of Primary Education of the Faculty of Pedagogy of Psychology of the FSU (Fergana, Uzbekistan).

The local history aspect in the formation of mathematical literacy of younger schoolchildren - Naumenko Olga, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Primary Education of VSSPU.

Formation of functional literacy of younger schoolchildren as a problem of pedagogy and mathematics - Larissa Selkina, Dean of the Faculty, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of PSHPU (Perm, RF).

The use of educational websites in the mathematical training of elementary school students - Elvira Sabirova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, KFU (Kazan, RF).

Mathematical fairy tales as a means of forming concepts and developing critical thinking of younger schoolchildren - Tatyana Smykovskaya, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Methods of Teaching Mathematics and Physics, ICT -VGSPU (Volgograd, RF).

Mathematical functional literacy: from theory to practice (from the experience of developing mathematics textbooks for primary classes in Belarus) - Mariya Urban, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Natural Sciences of the Maxim Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University.

The use of technology for the development of critical thinking in the process of forming mathematical literacy of younger schoolchildren - Irina Chichkanova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Psychological and Pedagogical, Preschool and Primary Education, (Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education "V.M. Shukshin Altai State Humanitarian Pedagogical University").

The process of studying quantities in mathematics lessons in elementary grades. - Baynazarov Timur, teacher of the Department of Primary Education of the Nukus State Pedagogical Institute named after Ajiniyaz, Nukus, Uzbekistan.

Visual programming environment SCRATCH in the educational process in primary school -Bogdan Viktor, teacher of Lida College of EE "Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno".

The 3rd year students of Kazakh State Women`s Teacher Training University made a scientific report: Zhanzhigit Zhadyra, Kasken Merey, Beybit Zhanara. The head is Associate Professor Ph.D., Larissa Ageyeva.

The event ended with awarding the winners of the IV international competition of local history problems of students and holding a master class "Solving author`s situational problems". The authors of the tasks aimed at the development of functional mathematical literacy are 1st-year undergraduates of the specialty "7M01301-Primary education", scientific supervisor of the professor of the Department of Primary Education Assel Akpayeva. Teachers of the department and students also took part in the master class.

Professor of the Department of Primary Education Larissa Lebedeva and Senior lecturers Ekaterina Ryabova, Zhupat Astambayeva conducted the invitation of foreign participants and the preparation of the round table.

The event ended with summing up the results of the Round Table and congratulating the anniversaries of the day.
