Debate «Computers become so advanced and interactive that students in the future will have no need for a human education in the classroom» dedicated to the event of the «Scientific decade-2022»

On April 6, 2022, the Department of Foreign Languages of Abai KazNPU held a debate «Computers become so advanced and interactive that students in the future will have no need for a human education in the classroom», dedicated to the «Scientific Decade-2022» event.

2nd course students of the specialty «Foreign language: two foreign languages» (205, 207, 208 groups) and teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages Kerimbekov Tokhtar and Ordabaev Chingiz held a scientific debate. Format: Offline.

The debates were held in three stages: Introductory, Main, Final. At the Introductory stage, the topic, the rules of the debate and its format were given, the students representing the two teams «Government» and «Opposition» were selected. A person with a timer was assigned. In the main stage, the speakers spoke one by one, expressing their position and point of view. Each team had three speakers: the first spoke presenting the group, gave definitions of future terminology and expressed the main position; the second spoke with ideas, facts and proofs; the third summed up the conclusions and gave explanations on some points. After the performance of both teams, the audience was given the right to ask questions to both teams. At the final stage, the results were summed up and the team of winners was chosen by voting of students.

Students showed a high level of conversational skills, the ability to master the audience and maintain good contact with the audience. Students showed a high level of interest in the topic of the debate, as well as in the discussion format itself. Many of the participants expressed interest in further participation in such events.
