All-Russian Student Public Speaking Competition

On April 15, 2021, the All-Russian Student Public Speaking Contest «What is success?» was held. The competition was organised by the Plekhanov Centre for Humanities Training of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and the Department of Foreign Languages No.2 with the support of Macmillan, a British publisher. The event was held in the online format.

Students from eight universities from Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Ukraine took part in the competition. The participants tried themselves as public speakers, demonstrating not only an excellent command of English, but also their vivid oratorical skills. The jury assessed the competitors on four criteria: linguistic literacy, persuasiveness of arguments, creativity and appropriateness of answers to questions from the audience.

Students Moldagali Madina, Tusupova Zhanara, Amina Kystaubaeva and Nurlyaiym Muratkyzy took part representing Abai KazNPU. Acting Director of the Department of Educational, Social Work and Youth Policy Bekbenbetova Kazyna and leading specialist of the Department of Educational, Social Work and Youth Policy Turladzhiev Alpamys coordinated the competition.

By a unanimous decision of the jury the winners were Abai KazNPU student Moldagali Madina and the student of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics Sviridov Nikolai. Second place was shared by Zhanara Tusupova, a student of Abai KazNPU (supervisor A. Zhumabekova, professor of the department of foreign philology and translation studies) and Sophia Nikolayenko, a student of Plekhanov Russian Economic University. The third degree diploma was awarded to Armen Artinian, a student of the Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport.

The jury noted a very good level of preparation of our students, as well as their public speaking ability.

We congratulate the winners and wish them new victories! There are two more All-Russian student competitions ahead of us: «Unique product-2021» competition of presentations on April 20 and competition of presentations of research works on May 13. We wish good luck and further creative success to the participants!
