Abai University  students deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Met with Ruslan Berdenov

On February 2, 2024, the Department of Education, Social Work and youth policy organized a meeting with Deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ruslan Berdenov on the topic "The negative impact of gambling on youth".

The main purpose of the event is to prevent gambling among young people.

In addition, recently, the topic of gambling addiction among young people has been increasingly addressed, urging young people to fight ludomania.

Opening the meeting with a welcoming speech, Director of the Department for Education, Social Work and youth policy Dildabek Didarbek noted that ludomania, which is relevant today, is also gaining momentum among young people, and this meeting will be useful for students. Deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ruslan Berdenov highlighted one of the most common threats among young people - the problem of gambling addiction.

According to official sources, the turnover of betting business in the country has grown 35 times over the past five years. There is even information that ludomans make up the majority of the reverse indicator of the consumer credit market. And it turns out that every fifth case of suicide is related to gambling.

The Majilis deputy also stressed that the current young generation is increasingly addicted to the internet. Instead of learning languages and playing sports, the younger generation did not miss social networks and did not hide the fact that they see other people`s lives more interesting than their own.

At the same time, Ruslan Berdenov called on the participants of the event to avoid bad habits, lead a healthy lifestyle, make the most of their free time and develop in every possible way. At the end of the speech, the students asked their questions and exchanged views freely. And on the part of the organizers, the guest of the meeting was presented with the image products of the University.
