Issues of improving the quality of secondary education were discussed

On December 9, 2023, Abai University hosted the presentation of the monograph «Scientific and practical foundations for improving the quality of secondary education» by Askarbek Kusainov, President of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor of Abai KazNPU.

The event was attended by Minister of Education Gani Beisembayev, Rector of the Kazakh National Women`s Pedagogical University Gulmira Kanai, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Banu Narbekova. Also present were representatives of Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, Al-Farabi KazNU and Abai KazNPU, college teachers and school principals.

Banu Narbekova opened the event with a congratulatory speech. She stressed the importance of this scientific work within the framework of the implementation of the project of the National Report «Quality Education Available to Everyone» and noted the need for cooperation between secondary and higher educational institutions in solving problems related to improving educational standards and quality of education.

Gani Beisembayev, congratulating the author of the monograph, emphasised the role of pedagogical universities in training teachers for all schools in the country. Noting that the draft National Report is a key document aimed at improving education, the Minister reported on the joint work of the two ministries to achieve a common goal, which includes ensuring accessibility and equity in higher and secondary education, creating a favourable educational environment and developing human capital.

It was noted that within the framework of the recently signed memorandum between the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, rectors of universities and heads of education departments are actively working to improve the quality of education and training of highly qualified teaching staff. They will also conduct joint scientific research, implement initiatives to establish co-operation in the field of education and science.

At the presentation of the monograph, key aspects of improving the quality of secondary education and methods of optimising the educational process were discussed. The important interaction between schools and universities to achieve sustainable development was also emphasised. The participants of the event highly appreciated the scientific and practical value of Professor Askarbek Kusainov`s monograph and proposed to discuss this work in educational institutions across the country - in schools, teacher training colleges and universities.
