21.11.2023 Abai University scientists exchanged experience in the development of Honors programs with colleagues from the United States of America
Within the framework of the grant financing project of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan IRN AR 19677510 (2023-2025) from November 11 to 20, 2023, the head Professor, Deputy Director for Science and International Relations of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology Absatova M.A. and the project executor, Vice-Rector for Social Development Nurlanov Sh.N. held a number of key meetings with representatives of Honors programs universities in the USA. These events have become a significant stage for the exchange of experience and opinions on the management, development and improvement of the Honors program.
During the business trip, the project executors met with representatives of the Institute of International Education. A wonderful opportunity to discuss and exchange experiences in the field of academic excellence has opened up new prospects for the further development of our Honors program.
Also, a meeting was held with representatives of the City College of New York (CCNY). The administrator of the Honors program of this university, Irina Stoyanova, presented valuable ideas and practices, contributing to the enrichment of Kazakhstani experience in creating and managing the Honors program.
In Washington, DC, the delegation met with Bethany Cobb, Director of the Honors Program at George Washington University. During the meeting, management strategies, innovative approaches and future plans were discussed, which will contribute to the even greater success of the Honors program.
It should be noted that Honors has been successfully operating at Abai University since 2022. The meetings that took place contributed to the exchange of valuable experience and opinions on various aspects of the management and development of this program. These steps are aimed at strengthening partnerships and support in the field of academic excellence for the further development of talented students.
