Bilateral cooperation was discussed

On March 9, 2022 Rector of Abai KazNPU Darkhan Bilyalov met with Saltanat Kussainova, the head of education department of Zhetysu district of Almaty City Education Department.

The meeting was attended by vice-rector for academic affairs Maktagali Bektemessov and director of the Department of Academic Affairs Khairulla Zhanbekov.

Issues of strengthening cooperation between the university and schools, improving the practice of students, teachers` attitudes, updated content of education, youth education, retraining of teachers and school principals, the need for training courses and study of industry experience of developed foreign countries, modernization of libraries and student canteens were highlighted.

Darkhan Bilyalov emphasized the role of our university as an active involved university, the activities of which are aimed at solving specific problems of education in Almaty and the country. In the same direction we are working closely to solve the problem of staff shortages in schools, providing educational programs, retraining of in-demand personnel and principals, specialists in inclusive education, as well as the development of interaction with employers, and professional development of teachers. The rector also spoke about the University-School and Honors College projects, which apply the best practices of universities around the world. The Honors College project provides students studying pedagogical specialties with deeper knowledge and skills, which will provide the country`s schools with successful young teachers.

Saltanat Kussainova focused on the students` work during their internships, noting that the application of the content knowledge gained at Honors College produced very good results. Extending the time of practice by 9 months is a very good decision, which contributes to the introduction of the student to the professional environment, the proper communication with teachers and students. As a result of the work carried out by Abai University in cooperation with schools, young professionals gradually gain experience and gain a deeper understanding of the role of a teacher. This also serves to reduce the shortage of school teachers.

The parties plan to jointly take over one secondary education organization in trust on the basis of mutual agreement and develop it on the basis of bilateral cooperation. This cooperation, which started in 2019, will continue with new projects in the future. It should be noted that there are 21 schools in Zhetysu district.

The meeting, aimed at developing the education sector, was very effective for both sides. Concrete proposals were voiced and a number of issues were resolved.
