Webometrics 2020 rating: Abai University site in the top seven

In January 2020, Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, according to the results of the new ranking «Webometrics Ranking of World Universities», which were published on the website of the laboratory of Laboratorio de Internet (Edition 2020.1.1), took 7th (!) Place among 121 Kazakhstani universities and 6022th - among the universities of the world. Among pedagogical universities of Kazakhstan, the website of Abai KazNPU in this rating took 1st place! So, our university entered the TOP-7 of the best universities in our country, improving its position by four positions (in July 2019, it was 11th place).

The goal of the Webometrics project is to help universities publish scientific achievements and present them to a wide audience. The rating is considered one of the most authoritative web ratings of world educational institutions.

Universities were evaluated on four indicators:
Presence (PRESENCE) - The number of web pages hosted on the university`s main domain indexed by Google. All file types are taken into account.
Visibility (VISIBILITY) - the number of external domains from which links come to the university`s web pages. Sources of information are link monitoring systems ahrefs and Majestic.
Transparency or openness (TRANSPARENCY or OPENNESS) - the number of links to the most cited university researchers according to Google Scholar Citations.
Excellence (EXCELLENCE) - the number of university scientific publications over a five-year period, included in the group of 10% of the most cited works in 26 scientific fields according to the SCImago research group, which conducts a comprehensive analysis of publications indexed by the scientometric system Scopus.
