Teaching staff of the department conducts educational activities in the following subjects: Lexicology, Phonetics, Morphology, Syntax, Introduction to Linguistics, History of Kazakh Literary Language, Morpheus System, Introduction to Turkology, Comparative Grammar of Turkic Languages, Stylistics, Speech Culture, General Linguistics, Methodology teaching of the Kazakh language, and etc. Jointly with them, conducts new subjects, such as Cognitive linguistics, Basics of communicative meaning, Speech communication, Theory linguistic terms, Communicative syntax, Areal linguistics, Intercultural speech communication, etc.

The department staff conducts scientific and methodological activities in the following areas:
- new directions in the theory of the Kazakh language and literature;
- methodological and pedagogical foundations of the development of an intellectual person;
- methods of learning the Kazakh language with interactive methods and new technologies;
- in order to study the direction of domestic and world linguistics as well as their teaching, linguistic (responsible candidate f philological sciences, docent A. Kobylanova) and methodical seminars are conducted (responsible R. Rakhmetova).

The department staff regularly spends weeks, decades, round tables and conferences on the topics «Baitursynov taglymy», «Sarsen Amanzholov taglymy» and «Kudaybergen Zhubanov taglymy». The result of such an event is the introduced subject «Baitursynov taglymy».

The department conducts its scientific and methodological activities on the approved topic Theoretical and Methodological Foundations of Kazakh Philology: History, Development, New Directions and Methods of Teaching, New Technology.

The following relevant aspects are considered:
- the main problems of training professional philologists;
- scientific methodology of the Kazakh language: history, development, current status;
- fundamentals of the theory and methodology of the Kazakh language;
- theory of language and its development, etc.

The annual work plan of the department, which contains a system of training, educational and methodological requirements, scientific work, the educational process and social work, is approved. Each semester summarizes the work according to the plan.

The purpose of the department teachers is to give high-quality knowledge in the theory and methodical direction of the Kazakh language; develop knowledge, skills and business skills of future professionals.

The main task of the department is high quality and effective teaching of the subject. In this regard, the department staff develops standard and work programs, educational and methodological complexes (textbooks, teaching aids, teaching materials, dictionaries, etc.) and apply new forms and technologies for conducting the lesson.
