Abai KazNPU students participate in a multi-day competition «JETISÝ ARBA BÁIGESI - 2019»

From September 17 to September 25, 2019, the international student competition «JETISÝ ARBA BÁIGESI - 2019», organized by the akimat of the Almaty region to familiarize modern youth with the history, cultural heritage and spirit of the Great Steppe and the Great Silk Road, takes place in the Kegen district of Almaty region.

The purpose of the event is the creation in Kazakhstan of a new national sports, tourist and cultural hobby for young people: traveling through the wild nature of the Almaty region using ancient nomadic Kazakh technologies in the style of caravans of the Great Silk Road; involvement of students in the process of studying and preserving the intellectual and spiritual heritage of a unique equestrian civilization; demonstration of the best intellectual, moral-volitional, leadership and team qualities of modern youth; cultural exchange between students of the countries of the Silk Road; propaganda of the wealth of natural and cultural resources of the Almaty region for the development of ecological and ethnographic tourism; creation of jobs in tourism for young people in remote rural areas.

The international competition involves student teams from the countries of the Great Silk Road - India, China, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Students of Abai KazNPU represent the team of our country. On a journey through the natural landscapes of the Almaty region, participants of an exciting project use the main transport of medieval caravans - a two-wheeled arba.

The competition consists of 4 stages:
- Desert route;
- Plain route;
- Mountain route;
- Arba-biathlon race on a closed track.
