Living Room Literature at the Department of Primary Education
An event combining an art and education called Living Room Literature was held on December 15, 2023, at the Department of Primary Education of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of Abai KazNPU. The Living Room Literature is a theatrical performance, a vivid example of the integration of competencies acquired by students in various disciplines.
Third-year students (Three-Year Bachelor`s Degree Program) and fourth-year students (Four-Year Bachelor`s Degree Program) with Russian as first language under the guidance of Professor Larissa Lebedeva, prepared the event. Third-year doctoral student Alexey Lyuft (scientific supervisor - Professor Asel Akpaeva) played an important role in the preparation. Students demonstrated their achievements as part of a final lesson in a series of disciplines, including Methods of Literary Readings, Children`s Literature, Multimedia Technologies, ICT in Teaching School Subjects, and Theater Arts. Teachers from the Department of Primary Education took part in the preparation: Master, Senior Teacher Maryam Bekbayeva, Adlet Kariev.
The event program included the following works: "The Pig under the Oak" is a plasticine animation based on the fable by Krylov I.A., independently created and voiced by Iskakova D., Butina Y., Shymyr A., and Tursynbek A.; "Morozko" is a hand puppet theater, a dramatization of the famous East Slavic fairy tale. Authors of the production and performers: Kulakova E., Degtyareva K., Khalikova Sh., Gorchakova N., Tsiprinskaya A.; "The Dragonfly and the Ant" is the art of dubbing with re-voicing of the fable by Krylov I.A. Rysbekkyzy K., Ruslanova A. presented the work; "Phraseologisms" as an e-book created by Kazhenova O., Karimova D.; "Prostokvashino" is a comic book without dialogue based on a series of works about Uncle Fyodor by Uspensky E.N. Authors: Grechkina N., Serik A.; "Cinderella" is a humorous comic book based on a Western European fairy tale, presented by Kemelkhanova A., Maratova A., Intykbaeva Zh., Slamgalieva Sh.
Guests of the event, including junior students and teachers of the department, appreciated the contribution of Alexey Lyuft and the originality of his proposed methodology for training future primary education teachers in the context of formal and informal education using theatrical techniques. Particular attention was paid to the use of theater arts in education, which demonstrates an innovative approach to the organization of training and teaching practice. The event was a powerful demonstration of how creativity and science can interact to enrich the educational experience and provide students with unique opportunities to develop their professional skills.
