03.05.2022 Round Table «Transformation of Education in Central Asia» to be held
The round table on «Transformation of education in Central Asia» organized within the framework of celebration of the 30th anniversary of the World Bank partnership with the countries of the region will be held on May 6, 2022 in Abai KazNPU. International and regional experts in the field of education will take part in the event.
International experience in post-pandemic reconstruction of education systems and educational innovations will be discussed, as well as educational achievements and challenges faced by Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
Although schools and universities in Central Asia and around the world have resumed their work in full-time format since the COVID-19 pandemic, the consequences of the past two years will leave their mark on a whole generation. According to expert estimates, «educational poverty» (a concept that refers to the inability of children to read and understand simple texts by the age of 10) worldwide has risen from 53% before the pandemic to around 70% today. Moreover, 24 million children are at risk of dropping out of school permanently.
What is the situation of learning loss and «education poverty» in Central Asia? What opportunities are there for transforming education systems in the countries of the region at a time of social and economic recovery from the pandemic? Join the discussion, ask our experts questions and share your views on the situation.
