04.10.2024 The literary event "Beloved City at the Foot of the Mountains" was held On September 30, 2024, a literary event, "Beloved City at the foot of the mountains", was held in the specialised lyceum № 165 in Almaty. The cultural event was organised by the Russian Language and Literature Department of Abai KazNPU and Specialised Lyceum № 165. The event was attended by 1st-year students of the Faculty of Philology and 11th-grade students of the specialised lyceum.
The event aimed to expand students` literary knowledge and familiarise them with the literary history of Almaty.
Elena Klepikova, a writer from Kazakhstan, author of the books "Almaty Bylki" ( note: bylki - folk tales) and "In the City of Apples" attended the literary evening as a guest. The writer talked about what "Almaty text" is, about legends connected with the city. The children learnt about the Tatar Sloboda, Big and Small stanitsa, and Dungan Sloboda near Kuldjin Road. With great interest, they discussed the story of why there was such a name as "Port Arthur", the legend of the former merchant`s house on Kurmangazy Street, the legend of the tree of lovers, the story of the underground passage that connected the Ascension Cathedral and the house of the former governor, and much more.
This literary lounge was a real discovery of the city for many participants.
