Development of the project on the introduction of a dual learning system at Abai University

On September 27, 2024, a trilateral agreement on dual training of first-year students "Primary Education with business innovations" of Abai KazNPU and the EPG PROMETHEUS SCHOOL in Almaty was signed. This important step is aimed at developing a new format for training specialists that combines academic knowledge and practical skills in demand in the labor market.

The Department of Primary Education (head of the department Zhumabayeva Asia) held a series of meetings with the school`s working group. Professors Larissa Lebedeva and Assel Akpaeva took part in the preparation of the industrial training plan from the department, from the school: academic director Marina Markina, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs Elena Cherkasskaya and Deputy Director for Scientific and methodological work Gulnara Usmanzhanova. At a meeting with the administration of the school and the faculty, the students were explained their rights and obligations. EPG PROMETHEUS SCHOOL provides students with access to modern technologies and teaching methods, which contributes to the training of highly qualified specialists.

Galiya Abayeva, Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology, presented the signed contracts to the students and wished them success in their professional development.

Students of the 3rd year of the specialty "Primary education with ICT" have already started the third year of industrial training at the school "School of the New Generation NGS" (NGS).  In the 2022-2023 academic year, Abai University within the framework of the KazDual project - "Implementation of the dual system in Kazakhstan" (link to the project: EU 618835-EPP-1-2020-1- KZ-EPPKA2-CBHE-SP Implementation period: 15.01.2021 -14.01.2024) according to the program: Erasmus+ launched a pilot project. The industrial training plan, developed by the curator of the dual program from the school Bekmuratova Raushan and professor of the Department of Primary Education Akpaeva Assel, includes a series of field seminars, an integrated practice "Trial lessons" and training in the "School of a young teacher" on the basis of the school. The director of the school, Renata Hisamutdinova, the dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology, Galiya Abayeva, and the head of the department, Asia Zhumabayeva, approved the dual education plan for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Dual education is becoming an increasingly popular format for training specialists, and the signing of a trilateral agreement confirms the desire of the participants to develop and improve the educational process.
