Republican round table "Kazakh linguistics and teaching methodology: traditions and perspectives"

On December 1, 2023 in Abai KazNPU held a national round table "Kazakh linguistics and teaching methodology: traditions and prospects". The event was organised jointly with the Centre for Coordination of Linguistic Studies and timed to the 95th anniversary of the famous scientist - Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Nurjamal Oralbaykyzyzy, whose services in the field of linguistics and education have become an integral part of the national heritage. As part of the jubilee event, a lecture hall named in honour of her name was also inaugurated.

The event was moderated by Karimbek Kurmanaliev, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who in his speech emphasised the importance of language research in modern education. The round table discussed the merits and scientific works of the outstanding linguist, Honoured Scientist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Honorary Academician of the Kazakhstan Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Oralbay Nurjamal. In the period from 1989 to 1997 she held the position of vice-rector and head of the Kazakh language department of Abai KazNPU, where she made a great contribution to the development of education. Oralbai Nurjamal is also the author of more than 300 scientific articles, 20 textbooks and monographs, has trained more than 70 doctors and candidates of sciences and was the chairman of the Doctoral Dissertation Council at the university.

Her colleagues and students - academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, famous scientists and teachers - took part in the solemn event and made speeches. The round table ended with fruitful discussions and plans for the development of linguistics and education in Kazakhstan.
