Abai University has increase its position in the international ranking QS World University Rankings-2023


On June 8, 2022, the results of QS World University Rankings-2023 (QS WUR) were published, in which Abai University was ranked 511-520, up 40 points from last year`s result. In total, 2462 universities took part in the ranking, 1422 of them were ranked. Kazakhstan represented by 16 universities in the global ranking of universities.


The QS WUR rankings based on reputation research. The methodology is conducted on 8 evaluation criteria, in 4 of them Abai KazNPU. University demonsrated a positive trend:
- Academic Reputation increased by 90 points over the year and entered the top 500 leading universities in the world with a score of 444.
- Employer Reputation shows traditionally high degree, and this indicator has remained at the level of -501+.
- The ratio of the number of teachers and students (Faculty Student) is one of the best indicators - 261.
- The share of foreign teachers in the teaching staff (International Faculty), this indicator increased by 19 points and measure up to the level of 422.

 

The remaining 4 criteria were rated 601+ by the rating compilers, including the research part, which has development potential.
- Citation index per the teaching staff member (Citations per Faculty) with the exception of self-citation - 601+.

 

This indicator aims to assess the scientific impact of universities. Citation means recognition of research in the global academic community. The more citations a research receives, the more influence it has in the world. The more highly cited articles a university has, the higher its scientific influence and reputation. The citation index of scientific articles is measured on the basis of the international bibliometric database Scopus (Elsevier), with taking into account data for the last 5 years.


It should be noted that Abai University has been participating in the authoritative QS World University Rankings since 2014, while demonstrating a gradual, consistent growth. At the end of this year, the university took another confident step towards the mark of the top 500 leading universities in the world.
