Ilyas Esenberlin: A Heritage Uniting Generations


On 5 February 2025, the Department of Russian Language and Literature of Abai KazNPU and eleventh-graders of Specialised Lyceum №165 held a literary lounge "Chronicler of the Great Steppe" dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth of Ilyas Esenberlin, a classic of Kazakh literature. His trilogy "Nomads" was translated into 30 languages around the world.


Lyceum students of the 11th class prepared a literary composition about the life and work of the writer.
The guest of honour of the evening Ulbolsyn Kambaturova, director of the literary museum of Ilyas Esenberlin (Atbasar, Akmola region), talked about the history of the museum, and introduced the expositions. Childhood and youth of the writer, his participation in the Great Patriotic War, his literary work, the tree of the Esenberlin family - everything aroused keen interest.


At the end of the meeting Saule Abisheva, head of the Department of Russian Language and Literature of Abai KazNPU thanked all the participants, said that Ilyas Esenberlin is a writer, philosopher, one of those who brought back our history, told about the formation of Kazakh statehood.


Schoolchildren, undergraduates, and students from the Czech Republic, interning at the Department of Russian Language and Literature, were united by the feeling of adoration for the great talent of the writer-patriot, who deeply loved his people.
