Lecture on «Designing syllabuses of educational programs»

On May 27, 2022, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness organised a guest lecture on «Designing syllabuses of educational programs». The speaker for the course was Deputy Dean of Nazarbayev University`s Graduate School of Business, PhD Jason Sparks.

Representatives of the teaching staff, doctoral students and employees of structural divisions of our university were invited to the course.

In the first part of the course, students looked at example programs and current syllabuses and the specific features of the structure of these documents. This work was conducted in an interactive way, dividing the participants into groups and giving each group the task of forming the aims and objectives of the programs and syllabuses of the course. The second part continued with the development of evaluation criteria and tasks.

Working in groups brought the participants from different institutes of Abai KazNPU together and intensified the involvement in the guest lecture. The guest lecture was effective and productive, where Dr. Sparks shared relevant findings on the development of educational programs and course syllabus.

As a reminder, earlier speakers Gulmira Amanzholovna Kurganbayeva (Yalta Online Academy), Duncan Priestly (Nazarbayev University), Gulzira Estekova (Almaly Business Mektebі) shared their experiences.

Thus, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness concluded the series of guest lectures that were organised throughout May this year for the staff of Abai KazNPU.
