Meeting of MES RK representatives with students of our university

On April 27, 2022, members of the working group of the Committee of pre-school and secondary education of the MES met with students of Abai KazNPU. The meeting was attended by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the University Maktagali Bektemesov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee Zhomart Karambayev, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of JSC Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools Natalia Zhumadildaeva.

Maktagali Bektemesov noted the importance and potential of the programme to attract the best teachers with an appropriate package of support measures for graduate students in regions with a shortage of teachers.

Members of the Working Group provided full information on the implementation of President K.Tokayev`s instruction to develop a special programme to attract the best teachers to regions with teacher shortages, and talked about the challenges and benefits of the programme, the Coordination Council and its functions, and the competition for teachers and graduates.

The Coordinating Councils will determine personnel needs in the regions, carry out information work and activities to attract teachers, review applicants` documents to meet the requirements of the programme. Its main aim is to reduce the gap in the quality of education between urban and rural schools. This is a big problem today.

The following social support measures are offered for recruited teachers - an increase in the salary, provision of accommodation or compensation for its payment. This is an opportunity for graduates to find employment and gain great professional experience.

Our students took an active part in the discussion of these issues, they were interested not only in salaries and housing, but also in the climate, history and culture of the regions that are experiencing a shortage of teaching staff. All the questions were answered comprehensively.
