Abai University team won the 3rd place at the Student Olympiad

At the XIV Republican Student Subject Olympiad on specialty «6B05205 - Geography» the «Zhetysu» team of Abai University won the 3rd place. The event, held on April 20, 2022, was organized by the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management of Kazakh National University in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The aim is to reveal creative abilities, select and support gifted students; form their intellectual potential; involve students and young scientists in solving scientific problems of our time.

Our team consisted of 3rd year students of specialty «6B05203-Geography» of Institute of Natural History and Geography: Sharapat Magzhan, Tamenova Araylym, Matigulla Botagoz. Supervisors were senior lecturers of Geography, Environment and Services Department Dina Borankulova and Albina Beykitova.

The Olympiad was held in three rounds: team presentation; online test; project defence. Team Zhetysu defended the research project on «Population Census in Kazakhstan: current trends and problems of development».

Teams from L. Gumilev ENU, M. Kozybayev North Kazakhstan State University, M. Toraygyrov Pavlodar State University, E. Buketov Karaganda State University and Al-Farabi KazNU also took part in the event.
