The library is a source of knowledge, the librarian is its base

The library at any university is an important part of the educational process. It is important for students to work effectively with the necessary sources of knowledge in the information service points (libraries), electronic library resources, databases. The representatives of the scientific library of our university held a meeting with students and authors of educational programs in the reading-room of the Institute of History and Law on February 17, 2022 within the framework of the week «Institute Days».

The purpose of the event was the exhibition of new literature; provision of information on the content of the literature in the educational program and on the electronic registration and use of the database; explaining the possibilities of using the resources of the electronic library.

At the meeting were present employees of scientific library of the university - the head of department of resources and communications G.Zh. Akimzhan, the head of department of information technologies A.A. Atantayeva, librarians Z.Kasimova, L.Bajunusova and A.Darken, and also their colleague from Institute of history and law K.Maykotova. They informed the students about the essence of libraries, the directions of their work and introduced the rules of work in such institutions, reminding about the careful attitude to sources of knowledge, especially in hard copy.

So, A. Atantayeva told about the use of databases and resources of electronic library, registration in the catalogue and work with reference and bibliographic editions, L. Bayzhunusova spoke about the provision of literature on the educational programme, deputy director for scientific work M. Muratkazin presented new scientific works and textbooks of the institute`s teaching staff.

The event organized as part of the «Institute Week» was very important. Students, noting that our libraries are a source of basic branch knowledge and information culture, thanked their staff for this important work.
