On 29 January 2017 in the opening 28th World Winter Universiade was attended by 280 students, graduates and academic staff of the Institute of History and Law. Academic staff, 250 graduates and students have supported torchbearers along the Dostyk avenue. 30 students participated in the opening ceremony in Almaty Arena.
