The webinar «The Second World War and the present: results, lessons, significance» took place

On May 6, 2020, the Department of World History of the Institute of History and Law held a webinar «The Second World War and the present: results, lessons, significance» dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory.

Director of the Institute B.S.Zhumagulov, stressing the importance of the topic, opened the webinar with the memories of teachers who participated in the most brutal war of the twentieth century. Professor S.V.Timchenko has covered in detail actual problems of the Second World War and today`s views on this event in society. Professor H.A.Suteyeva told about the feats and civic position of the employees of the Institute of History and Law, who took part in the Great Patriotic War, based on the materials of its archives. The moderator, Head of the Department of «World History» E.N.Yermukanov emphasized that the study of all pages of the Great Patriotic War will continue until each of the one million 200 thousand Kazakhstanis who went to defend the world from fascism are identified. Unfortunately, many more heroes went missing during the bloody battles. Noting that there are many lessons for young people in this event, he urged to remember the glorious feats of the older generation.
