A webinar was held on the topic "Ways of forming functional literacy in teaching geography"

On February 26, 2024, the educational and Methodological Bureau of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Geography held a webinar focused on the formation of functional literacy of students in the study of geography. The webinar was attended by the teaching staff of the Department of Geography and Ecology, members of the methodological bureau. The head of the bureau, senior lecturer Beikitova Albina, made a welcoming speech at the webinar. Geography teachers of secondary schools, university professors, and methodologists took part in the webinar. There were about 100 participants. The speaker was the chief researcher of the Laboratory of Natural and Mathematical Disciplines and STEM Technology of the National Academy of Education named after Y.Altynsarin, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor Mazbayev Ordenbek. The speaker explained the goals of studying geography by the spiral method, the methodological techniques of tasks aimed at functional literacy in geography. He focused on the volume of hours in geography, the features of the updated educational program. During the webinar, the participants asked the speaker questions, which were answered. This event was organized at a high methodological level.
