Open day «Your choice is Your future»

On February 22, 2023, a traditional Open day for graduates of grades 10-11 «Your choice is Your future» was held at the Institute of Natural Sciences and Geography. The event was attended by more than 100 high school students and graduates of lyceums and gymnasiums of Almaty, in particular №2, №12, №19, №49, №98, №172.

The main purpose of the event is to show the prestige of the teaching profession, significant demand in highly professional cadres of teachers of natural disciplines: chemistry, biology, ecology, geography and attract talented young people to study at the main pedagogical university of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Organizers: Deputy Director of the Institute for Educational Work Serik Bakirov, responsible for career guidance work Yerlan Birtalaev, Zhanar Zhaksibayeva, active members of the student government «Qoldau».

Director of the Institute Kulyash Kaimuldinova told about the educational achievements, the main directions of scientific and pedagogical activity of the teaching staff of the Institute. Yerlan Birtalaev, Zhanar Zhaksibayeva provided detailed information on all specialties, Serik Bakirov spoke about the work of the student directorate, the chairman of the student self-government organization «Qoldau» Albina Sultanbekova acquainted high school students with the active life of student youth.

For a more substantive acquaintance, the students visited the educational laboratories of the Institute. The Department of Chemistry, students of the 2-3 courses of the «Sparkle Science of Chemistry» circle showed interesting chemical experiments consisting of colored fireworks-fire splashes, reactions «Foam Fountain», «Chemical Volcano», «Silver Mirror», qualitative reactions «Flame coloring» in different colors. The demonstrated experiments aroused great interest and a storm of emotions among the students. 2nd year students of the Department of Biology demonstrated experimental experience in determining vitamin «C» in the composition of sweet juices, DNA isolation from banana cells.

The event ended with a bright concert program. School principals were presented with letters of thanks and memorable gifts.

Familiarization with the exhibits of the Abai Museum complemented the wonderful impressions of the Open Day in Abai KazNPU. The graduates expressed their sincere gratitude to the organizers for an interesting event.
