Abai University ranked 62nd in the subject category "Education and Training" in the world ranking QS WUR by Subject 2022

According to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022, Abai KazNPU (Abai University) entered the top hundred universities in the world in terms of subject ranking for the first time, ranking 62 in the subject "Education and Training" of the Broad Subject Area "Social Sciences and Management" with 71.6 points. This metric is the best as among Kazakhstan as Central Asia universities in this ranking category. As a consequence, the university once again demonstrates why it is justifiably referred to as Kazakhstan`s pedagogical education flagship.

Abai University not only showed remarkable growth in the specialty "Education and Training", but also, for the first time, participated in the Arts and Humanities subject ranking, placing 297 with a total score of 64.5. Last year in this area, the university was represented by the specialty "English Language and Literature", while this year the specialty "Linguistics" entered the ranking arena, taking the position 201-250 in the world (3rd place among domestic universities). As a result, the university set another record in subject rankings and expanded the subject range in the new subject area from two to three this year, up from two previous year.

Currently, QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022 is one of the world`s most authoritative rankings, with the main purpose of identifying the world`s leading universities in a specific subject, grouped into five main subject areas: Arts and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences and Medicine, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Management.

As part of the preparation of this year`s ranking, QS specialists analyzed 1,543 higher education institutions around the world. Universities were ranked according to 51 disciplines, grouped into five broad subject areas. As a result, over 17,700 rating positions were created. The peculiarity of ranking this year is that the International Research Network was considered as an indicator.

The QS methodology relies on five essential indicators to rank universities: Academic reputation, Research citations per paper, Employer reputation, H-index, as already noted, the international research network. For the first indicator, responses were collected from over 130,000 scientists around the world between 2017 and 2021. The second indicator measures the average number of citations received per paper, and is an assessment of the impact and quality of scientific work carried out by universities. In total, more than 14.7 million unique paper which were cited almost 96 million times were analyzed. The third indicator relates to employment data based on the employer`s assessment. Over 75,000 graduate employer survey responses from around the world were considered. The fourth indicator, H-index is a way of measuring the productivity of the published work of scientists. The index is based on the set of the academic`s most cited papers and the number of citations that they have received in other publications. The final indicator is only used in a broad subject area as part of an international effort to establish effective scientific links.

The independent and objective QS WUR by Subject ranking confirms that the university`s academic reputation has grown in the international arena.
