Digital volunteering intensifies

On March 15, 2022, a meeting of activists and excellent students of our university was held with the leadership - Chairman of the Board - Rector Darhan Bilyalov and Vice-Rector for Social Development Shyngys Nurlanov. The purpose of the event was to organize the project «Digital Volunteering» in the implementation of the tasks of the Development Strategy of Abai University. The created volunteer group, in agreement with the schools of Almaty, will conduct classes for students in online and offline formats. Our volunteers will also provide their services remotely in all regions of the country.

In his speech, Darhan Bilyalov, noting the importance of this meeting, stated that quarantine measures had led to a decline in the academic performance of students in schools. He noted that problems arising in education are solved through close interaction with secondary education institutions, direct contact with school leaders, teachers and students, and urged the participants to freely express their opinions. He said several projects are being implemented to realise the strategic objectives of the university and strengthen ties between the university and the school. For instance, Honors College projects, digital volunteering and «Web-teacher» programme have been launched.

The head of the University stressed responsible tasks of the university and digital volunteers, formation of personality of schoolchildren, noting that the problem of upbringing of young generation must be given special attention not only by teachers but also by parents.

Shyngys Nurlanov stressed that it is very pleasant for the university that students are actively involved in solving urgent issues of education. «We will support our volunteers in every possible way and will create conditions for their fruitful work. The Honors College project plays an important role in this, because in the near future we will be receiving well-trained and creative young teachers in the country`s schools», he said.

Volunteering is one manifestation of patriotism. Volunteers, first and foremost, serve for the good of the country. Their work will further develop civil society. Volunteering is the need of the hour. This initiative is necessary to consolidate the nation and strengthen statehood. Such good deeds confirm the words of the great Abay: «Kareket kyl, paidasy kopke tisin».
