07.02.2022 Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute contributes greatly to the anti-corruption work
In December 2021, a conference was held dedicated to the 30th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the International Anti-Corruption Day. The topic was «30 Years of Independence: Development of Anti-Corruption Policy». As part of the event, awards were given to active public figures of the city for their contribution to the fight against corruption. Among them, Ainur Sabitova, Director of Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute, a member of the Commission on Human Rights under the President of Kazakhstan. By decree of the Head of State, she was awarded the medal «Halyk algysy».
As part of its main educational focus the institute constantly organizes activities for students and staff to improve their knowledge of France and to improve training in the French language. For example, in 2021 there were guest lectures by Consul General of France Alexis Shakhtakhtinsky and Consul General of the United States in Almaty Eric Meyer. French teachers Khalid Fates and Etienne Baon conduct free French language classes in addition to classes. Within the framework of joint Kazakh-French educational programs 20-25 French professors from partner universities come to SKI to deliver lectures annually. TotalEnergies E&P Kazakhstan CEO Ahlem Friga-Noy met with students as part of the first webinar in the series «Introducing the French business world - a practical business course for Kazakhstani youth». The event, dedicated to the International Day of French Language Teachers, gathered teachers and heads of educational institutions of Central Asia. Current issues of teaching French in the region were discussed. Director of Sorbonne Institute-Kazakhstan Sabitova A., assistants A. Ibragimova and J. Bolat won the grant from the Embassy of France in Kazakhstan and in December 2021 attended the professional development courses in Pôle Universitare de Vichy (France) at Cavilam language school.
