Scientific research conducted at the department
Currently, the main direction of scientific research of the department is the development of didactic and methodological foundations for teaching physical and mathematical disciplines in schools and universities in the context of secondary education content renewal.
The research work of the teaching staff of the department is planned and reported, as evidenced by the annual plans and reports of the research department of the graduating department, individual work plans of teachers. The share of full-time teachers involved in the research work of the department is 100 %.
The department is a graduating department for educational programs of undergraduate, graduate and doctoral studies «Mathematics» (bachelor`s degree, master`s degree, doctoral studies), «Physics» (bachelor`s degree, master`s degree, doctoral studies), this determines the priority scientific areas in which the main research work is carried out: - development of a methodological system for teaching mathematics and physics in schools and higher educational institutions; - improvement of teaching mathematics and physics at school and university; - problems of informatization of physical and mathematical education at school and university. The department has a great scientific potential. The degree rate in the department is 66%. The department has 5 Doctors of Science, 10 Candidates of Science, 4 Doctors of PhD. The work of the dissertation Council (Chairman of the Council - Professor A.E. Abylkasymova): - from 2016 to 2017, the dissertation council (hereinafter referred to as the Council) worked at the department to defend dissertations for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the profile 6D010000 - "Education (mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry, biology, geography)"; - Since 2018, the Council has been working on the profile 6D010000 - «Education (mathematics, physics)»; - from 2019 to 2020, the Council worked on the profile 6D010000 - «Education (mathematics)»; - since 2021, the dissertation council at Abai KazNPU has been working to defend and award the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the direction 8D015 - Teacher training in natural sciences (6D010900 / 8D01501 - Mathematics, 6D011000 / 8D01504 - Physics).
Every year, at the department, undergraduates successfully defend master`s theses and receive the academic degree «Master of Education» in the specialty «7M01501 - Mathematics» and «7M01504 - Physics».
The research work of the faculty is carried out through: - participation in research projects funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and University projects of Abai KazNPU; - publications in international scientific journals in the database Web of Science, Scopus and Russian science citation index; - publications in domestic scientific journals, including those recommended by the Quality Assurance Committee for Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan; - preparation and publication of textbooks, teaching materials, teaching aids for general education schools and universities; - participation in international scientific and practical conferences, forums and seminars.
